Tell a Friend About This EventTell a Friend

Representing a parent or caregiver under investigation for suspicion of harming a child is scary and challenging. Just the accusation alone is devastating. But a client in such a situation desperately needs effective advocacy. Jim Sturdivant and Ryan Daugherty will focus on how to balance the competing needs of aggressive advocacy, diplomacy, and public relations with relevant scientific, medical and behavioral science.

Representing a parent or caregiver under investigation for suspicion of harming a child is scary and challenging.  Just the accusation alone is devastating.  But a client in such a situation desperately needs effective advocacy.  Two case studies will be presented - one involving the death of an infant and the other involving an accusation of abuse of an infant.  These situations were both resolved without the need for a trial or a conviction.  This seminar will focus on how to balance the competing needs of aggressive advocacy, diplomacy and public relations with relevant scientific, medical and behavioral science.

Guest speakers are Jim Sturdivant and Ryan Daugherty of Sirote & Permutt PC located here in Birmingham Alabama.  Moderating the program is Stephen Shaw of Redden Mills Clark & Shaw, along with co-moderator Michael Jones of Securities Capital Corporation.

This seminar has been approved by the Alabama State Bar's MCLE Commission for 1.0 hour MCLE Credit (including 0 ethics).
