Birmingham’s Unique Place in Civil Rights Law: a Super Saturday CLE Event
BLSA, a Chapter of NALS, Inc., is hosting an all-day continuing legal education event on October 22, 2016. The event will take place at the 16th Street Baptist Church from 9 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m.
Tickets are $35 for members of BLSA, and $65 for non-members until September 30, 2016, when the prices will increase to $40 for members and $75 for non-members. A group rate is available if five or more tickets are purchased together. Your ticket will include registration, parking, lunch, and a certificate of attendance for five hours of CLE/MCLE credit, approval pending.
The event will center on how the law changed as a result of Birmingham’s role in the Civil Rights Movement. Speakers will include the Honorable Houston L. Brown, the Honorable Helen Shores Lee, and H. Chervis Isom, Esquire, as well as a panel discussion on the role of the media in changing the law. The keynote speaker, Ms. Carolyn McKinstry, will wrap up the day with a presentation on how being a survivor of the 1963 church bombing has driven her to dedicate her life to the cause of civil rights.
