Sections - Workers Compensation
Share |

The Workers' Compensation Section of the Birmingham Bar Association was created in 2007.  Its stated purpose is to:

(a) enhance relationships among workers' compensation defense attorneys, plaintiff's attorneys, judges, and presiding judges over matters of workers' compensation law;

(b) promote the professional development, welfare, interests, and education of the members of the section;

(c) promote the sound administration of justice;

(d) provide meaningful services and educational programs for the benefit of the members of the section and the Bar;

(e) encourage involvement of the members in activities of the Bar; and

(f) provide members with opportunities to assume leadership roles in Bar activities.

Since 2007, Section membership has grown and the number of FREE CLEs for section members has increased.  The Section hosts an annual "Judges' Seminar" before the sitting Circuit Civil Judges in Jefferson County to review changes in the law, and guest speakers have included sitting judges from the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals.

Besides increasing opportunities for free educational programs for members (and free CLE credits), the Section has also initiated philanthropic efforts to raise support for Kids' Chance, relief for storm victims, and supplies for local schools.  The Section also has social events where Section members and judges have the chance to meet one another and forge improved relationships.

Admission is open to anyone already a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, and annual Section dues are $25.00 in addition to Regular dues.
