BBA Sections

Join a Section and connect in your practice area!  Some Sections offer discounted CLE programs, social events, and more!  Many engage in public service and charitable fundraising.  Any member may join one or more sections, except that the Young Lawyers Section is typically reserved for lawyers under the age of 36 or admitted to practice for less than 5 years.  Learn from others, improve your skills and connect!  Please note:  Section membership is only available to Birmingham Bar Association members whose membership dues are current.  To join a Section, simply log-in to your profile at www.birminghambar.org, and select the "Join one or more Sections" link.  

Alternative Dispute Resolution                                                                                          

For members with an interest in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and collaborative law.  The Section sponsors networking opportunities, educational seminars and other events.  Annual Section dues are $25.00, in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 ADR Section officers.

Bankruptcy & Commercial Law                                                                                         

For members interested in bankruptcy and commercial litigation topics.  The Section offers opportunities for CLE seminars, social interaction, and pro bono service.  It also hosts an annual charitable fundraiser.  Section dues are $25.00, in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 Bankruptcy/Commercial Law Section officers.

Business Law

For members whose practice concentrates in business or transactional law.  The Business Law Section enhances opportunities for business lawyers to develop expertise and share resources.  Annual dues are $25.00, in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 Business Law Section officers.

Criminal Justice

For members who practice in criminal defense or prosecution, or other areas within the criminal justice system.  Section dues are $20.00 in addition to regular membership dues, and the CJS section offers CLE programs, social events, and more.  Click here to contact 2016 Criminal Justice Section officers.

Federal Practice

For members with an interest in federal court and appellate practice.  One of the newest Sections, the Federal Practice Section offers opportunities to connect and learn about this practice specialty.  Annual dues are $25.00, in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 Federal Practice Section officers.

Probate

For members with interest in probate law and probate court practice, including wills, trusts and estates.  The Probate Section actively sponsors CLE programs on relevant topics, and sponsors networking and social events, including the "Night at the Barons" baseball game.  Section dues are $20.00 in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 Probate Section officers.

Solo & Small Firm Practitioner

For solo and small firm practice members interested in the sharing management and marketing tips, free monthly CLE programs, and numerous networking and social event opportunities.  Section dues of $25.00, in addition to regular membership dues, includes 12 annual hours of CLE credit.  Click here to contact 2016 Solo/Small Firm Practitioner Section officers.

Women Lawyers

For members interested in the personal and professional development of women lawyers, and the enhancement and quality of life within the legal community.  The Section works to provide mentoring, public service, educational and social opportunities.  Annual dues are $30.00, in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 Women Lawyers Section officers.

Workers Compensation

For members whose practice includes the area of workers compensation, or those with an interest in learning about this specialty.  The Section works to enhance the relationships among plaintiff and defense attorneys, and judges, in matters of workers' compensation law.  Section dues are $25.00, in addition to regular membership dues.  Click here to contact 2016 Workers Compensation Section officers.

Young Lawyers
