Slip Opinions

The Birmingham Bar Association, with the assistance of four Birmingham law firms, provides the full text of the decisions of these courts as soon as practicable after the Courts release their opinions. For each case, there  is also a summary of the opinion. The name of each case listed  is a hypertext link to the actual text of the decision as it  is received from the several courts. The Alabama appellate courts  generally release opinions on Fridays during their terms. The  Eleventh Circuit does not release opinions on any particular schedule, but we will try to update that court's cases on a weekly  basis as well.

Instructions

If a case appears useful or interesting, please click on the case name and the full text should appear  in your browser or text editor. For users of the Windows 95/98  operating system, the text editor will usually be Notepad for  small text files and Wordpad for those in excess of 65K.

Once you have opened the text of  the decision in your browser or text editor, you may save it  using the "File/Save As" command. From there, it should be easy to cut, copy and paste pertinent portions of these brand new opinions into briefs or other legal documents or to print  the decision for submission to a court, etc.

Because of the format in which  they are received, the decisions may contain the original pagination formatting codes used by the Court, and may contain some additional character or other anomalies. For example, the "§"  and the "%" symbols do not translate well, and the user may want to edit the decision to compensate for these formatting  errors.
